I woke up this morning to a glaring reminder that the devil didn't win and that my setbacks were all part of a divine plan.
I always get emotional when preparing to co-hosts any radio show. Sometimes I am taken aback when I think of the little girl that was scared to speak, look people in the eye and had been taught by her abuser that you are not important, you will never amount to anything and you're stupid. When I wasn't praying for God to give me the courage to commit suicide, I was journaling my thoughts and dancing with dreams of one day become a published author and giving Maya Angelou and Oprah Winfrey a run for their money. (I'm still working on that y'all.)
Flash forward 35 years and a resounding truth is being magnified: "you shall live and not die and declare the works of the Lord. You can do all things through Christ which strengthens you. This is not unto to the death". These scriptures and words were put in my spirit during my darkest hours and enabled me to hold on. I keep them with me today and still rely on them during times of heartbreak, persecution and devastation.
Truthfully, everyone is facing a battle or struggle in this journey called life; that is why we should be more loving, caring and compassionate in our dealings with one another. Yet, I share my story with you to encourage you that, as you face your pain, struggles and challenges, don't give in or give up: use each one as motivation to rise up and achieve greatness. If you were meant to die, you would have been dead already; you SURVIVED for a distinct purpose and you will not die until you fulfill it! You cannot begin your work or fix what you refuse to face.
