Let’s face it: some of us have survived the uglier side of life. I see and hear it all the time from the voice of my clients. It’s a voice that I know all too well.
You see, ignoring the little girl within will not make her go away. As a matter of fact, she often appears in your conversations, disagreements and bouts of anger. Her age is the point of your greatest pain and she’s stuck right there until you do your work to release her. She’s crying and begging you to hear her and HELP her.
Take heart; the impact of your childhood trauma does not have to be permanent. As Psychology Today shares, studies show that while childhood emotional wounds may have changed your brain, you can change it again. Knowledge of your attachment style, practice and patience . . . and therapy can help you overcome your trauma and develop and maintain loving adult relationships.
It’s okay to answer the Little Girl Within. From this day forward, whatever her cries are, please do not ignore her. She/You always deserved to be heard, loved and cared for. Your worth is greater than your trauma and your future is greater than the value and worth you place on yourself. Go in peace and love.
